Philanthropic Mission

I've been volunteering most of my life and giving back is important to me, it's good for the soul and our world sure needs the love.  Most of my retreats involve a service mission.  For the Puerto Rico Retreat, we are partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Puerto Rico to both raise money and volunteer at two of their clubs where we will teach Yoga to 150 children!  The Boys & Girls Club has done a stellar job helping locals recover and rebuild. Post-hurricane, BGCPR transformed 4 of their 13 centers (the ones that weren’t destroyed) into disaster relief locations to get supplies and food to local communities throughout the island.  Since then they have provided overwhelming support to children via their after school programs.  We are honored to be part of this mission!  Note: This is an optional part of the retreat and would require an extra nights stay.  For room rate information, contact me directly at: info@lainaflorio.com.

Our goal is to raise $10,000. To make a donation, click the button below.

Introducing Nikka

IMG_5309.jpg

Nikka will be our yoga teacher for most of the classes.  I will be teaching some classes too. Nikka is simply amazing.  I asked her to join us because she’s one of the best yoga teachers I’ve ever worked with.  She teaches in a way that integrates what yoga is truly about -  Mind, Body, and Spirit.  Nikka is a yoga instructor, yoga therapist, and a dancer.   She graduated with a BFA in Dance and a minor in Somatics, the mind body connection.  Nikka has taught yoga over 11 years and continues to study the art of healing through yoga at LMU.  Nikka  specializes in teaching yoga to people in recovery, senior citizens, children, as well as children with special needs and on the spectrum.  In addition she loves to teach vinyasa flow, fun creative workouts, family yoga, dance classes, and healing restorative yoga.  When Nikka is not teaching she enjoys modeling, choreographing, and going to the beach.

Hurricane / Status IN San Juan, Puerto Rico:

A few have asked me if the damage from last years hurricane will hinder the experience.  It will not. The extensive damage occurred inland, mostly on the eastern side of Puerto Rico.   San Juan, the capital is northwest, and was spared the worst.  In fact, the hotel we are staying at only suffered minor damage and was operating throughout the hurricane, they never closed.  San Juan is back to normal, all attractions are open, and our hotel is located in the most upscale, modern and chic part of Puerto Rico.  The island has 85 % of power restored.  Much opportunity remains in the more rural, mountainous areas.

Travel as much as you can, as far as you can, as long as you can.  Life is not meant to be lived in one place.
